At Gucci’s recent FW18 show in Milan, the iconic brand revealed accessories designed by Alessandro Michele and co. Ranging from some luxe AF crystal sneakers to NY Yankee baseball caps, the fashion show had something for everyone.

Gucci

The show’s notes informed viewers that it was focused on cyborgs - “Gucci Cyborg is post-human: it has eyes on its hands, faun horns, dragon's puppies and doubling heads.” (Yo, Daenerys! Someone stole your dragons.) The designer’s surreal choice of accessories and props were designed to represent “a figure that can overcome the dualism and dichotomy of identity.” The notes were inspired and quoted from Donna Haraway's 1984 essay titled A Cyborg Manifesto.

The show was held at Gucci’s Milan HQ, which transformed into an operating theater, complete with walls covered in hospital-green PVC, plastic waiting room style chairs and an operating table. Gucci took to Instagram to explain the concept which was designed to “reflect the works of a designer - the act of cutting, splicing and reconstructing materials and fabrics to create a new personality and identity with them.”

The pieces that really stood out for us were the SEGA sneakers that were heavily bedazzled. It seemed like Michele looked at Balenciaga’s Triple S sneaker and said “Fuck it, we’re making it chunkier with jewels.” Fret not nerds, Gucci confirmed that the SEGA font is used with permission from SEGA Holdings Co., Ltd.>

Unfortunately, you can’t purchase the snakes, chameleons, faux horns and severed heads from this season’s collection, but you can access watches with the iconic bee motif and understated loafers from Gucci’s website.
