Diddy and Steph Curry Want to Buy the Carolina Panthers

Steph Curry and Sean Combs want to buy the Carolina Panthers NFL franchise. But do they have a genuine chance?

NBA star Steph Curry, and rap mogul Diddy (Sean Combs) are a part of a powerful group who are seriously considering buying the Carolina Panthers NFL franchise.

Curry, originally from Carolina and a huge Panthers fan, and rapper-turned-entrepreneur Diddy have previously expressed their interest in becoming NFL owners, but with the team valued at USD $2.3 billion, they simply don’t have the funds to do this alone.

This is why the two icons have joined a group led by tech-billionaire Michael Rubin, who is already a part owner of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils and also has a small stake in the Philadelphia 76ers.

According to Forbes, Rubin’s net worth is around $2.7 billion, meaning he is already worth more than the entire Carolina Panthers franchise. Curry ($47.3 million) and Diddy ($820 million) might not be able to compete with the billionaire financially, but their star power alone could reinvigorate the Panthers and their demanding fan base.

While owning an NFL team (or at least part-owning) would be nothing but a pipe dream for most people, it seems Diddy and Curry did not have to think twice about their chances to have a seat at the NFL table. When disgraced Panthers owner Jerry Richardson announced that the team would be up for sale, mainly due to the 81 year old’s sexual and racial misdemeanors, Diddy immediately tweeted “I would like to buy the Panthers”, with Curry responding “I want in!”.
