Elon Musk is Legitimately Inspired By Kanye West
Pretty much everyone is inspired by Elon Musk, but it turns out that he is inspired by none other than Kanye West.
Turns out Elon Musk Is Inspired by Kanye West
It’s fair to assume that Elon Musk is one of the world’s greatest innovators, and a source of constant inspiration for people all around the globe. But did you know that Elon Musk is inspired by none other than Yeezy?
This week, Musk appeared on a panel discussion at South X Southwest where he spoke about his plans for SpaceX to launch rockets to Mars as early as the first half of 2019. And when asked who he is inspired by, he replied “Well, Kanye West. Obviously.” The crowd laughed, but Musk was being legit.
Over the past decade - since the release of his debut album, there is no doubt that Kanye West has made a significant impact in the worlds of music and fashion. But then again, Forbes ranked Elon Musk at number 54 on the World’s Billionaire list in 2017, and number 21 for the World’s Most Powerful People list.
This isn’t the first time that Musk has nodded to Pablo as an inspiration for him. In 2015 Time named Kanye on their list of 100 of The World’s Most Influential People, and Elon Musk wrote the entry that accompanied it. In the short excerpt he wrote:
“Kanye West would be the first person to tell you he belongs on this list. The dude doesn’t believe in false modesty, and he shouldn’t. Kanye’s belief in himself and his incredible tenacity got him to where he is today. And he fought for his place in the cultural pantheon with a purpose.”
And at the beginning, even though we all thought it was a joke, it’s clear to see that Musk is genuinely inspired by Kanye and for a good reason. Yeezy has been constantly and fearlessly pushing boundaries, and encouraging people to engage with their social and cultural environments in the same way. Or in Elon’s words "He’s not afraid of being judged or ridiculed in the process. Kanye’s been playing the long game all along, and we’re only just beginning to see why.”
