Jay-Z Is Changing Lives With Apps

Jay-Z is investing serious money into startups in a bid to help his community and change people's lives.

Jay-Z has been quite busy in the app world recently. The rapper and mogul has not only partnered with friend and fellow rapper, Sean Diddy Combs, to produce an app the supports “black excellence”, but has also invested some serious coin into a startup that hopes to address America’s incarceration problem.

The Brooklyn icon’s entertainment company Roc Nation, has been listed as one of the many investors in the app Promise, and a press release states that the team hope “to create a sustainable and scalable program that will reduce the number of people behind bars, recidivism and the cost of care by extending the capabilities of community supervision.”

Jay-Z has long been focused on injustice within the criminal justice system so it was only natural for him to invest in the app. He says that, “Money, time and lives are wasted with the current policies. It's time for an innovative and progressive technology that offers sustainable solutions to tough problems. Promise’s team, led by Phaedra, is building an app that can help provide 'liberty and justice for all' to millions.”

In a stronghold to help others in his community, Beyonce’s bae has also started working on an app alongside Combs to help users find black-owned and black-friendly companies in their area.

Diddy who currently goes by the name Love, expresses that the app is “not about taking away from any other community”. Instead, it allows users be proud of their community. The app does not have a name yet.
