Someone Has Designed a Beer That Gives Athletes a Boost
Athletes now have a real excuse to enjoy a cold one after their workout, because this beer is designed for refuelling.
For the athletes out there who crave a cold one post run, you’re in luck.
San Francisco based beer company, Sufferfest Beer Co. has crafted a beer for athletes, made by athletes. And no, it’s not a strange Gatorade/beer crossover, it’s a quality beer that holds its own. And besides, moderate beer consumption can rehydrate you just as well as water can, according to a few studies.
Sufferfest Beer takes this a little further by including all the good stuff athletes need to refuel, including electrolytes, sugars and carbs. The beer is also gluten-removed, meaning they extract the gluten part way through fermentation, so get excited if you are gluten intolerant.
There are three beers in this collection so far; an IPA called “Taper”, a blonde “Shakeout” and a pilsner called “Flyby”. Each beer is crisp and satisfying to enjoy post workout.
When you finish up an athletic pursuit with friends, whether that may be a run, hike, swim, ski or anything else, a large part of it is the social element of bonding over that killer hill, or that last turn and how tired it makes you feel. It is a “suffer-fest”, and that’s where the beer gets its name.
Founder and CEO, Caitlin Landesberg is an athlete who loved a cold beer after exercise, but when she found out she was gluten intolerant, she had to find an alternative, which proved to be very difficult. That’s when she decided to add the electrolytes, sugars and carbs that make this beer what it is.
So whether you’ve finished a 42 km marathon or spent a warm afternoon kicking the footy, it might be a good idea to hit the beers, or more specifically Sufferfest Beer.
