We thought Nicolas Jaar dropped off the face of the Earth after his 2016 studio album, Sirens. But fret not, the New York based composer was making music under the moniker A.A.L - otherwise known as Against All Logic. The new LP is titled ‘2012 - 2017’, with Jaar pulling a sneaky one and quietly releasing it for streaming on February 17.

Jaar’s experimental-style electronic tunes combine memories of his childhood and love for dance music, and showcases his Chilean heritage along with the experiences he had while living there with his mother after his parents separated. Notable songs which include Jaar singing in Spanish are “Mi Mujer” and “El Bandido”.

In a 2016 interview, Jaar, who is also half of electronic group DARKSIDE, discussed one his lesser-used alias’ A.A.L. In an interview with Crack Magazine, he mentioned how he finds it funny when articles announce “new” Nicolas Jaar singles, when he’s been releasing music the whole time.

2012 - 2017, is similar to his previous releases as being mostly ambient electronic dance music. The tunes are groovy, more upbeat and have surprise samples, highlighted in “Such a Bad Way”, which features a cheeky Kanye West “I Am a God” sample.

Groove to the album below!
