Cleveland Cavaliers head coach, Tyronn Lue, has announced (20th March, 2018 AEDT) that he will be stepping back from coaching the Cavs in a short-term move which allows him to focus on regaining a ‘healthier foundation from which to coach for the rest of the season’.

Cavs GM, Koby Altman released a statement in support of Coach Lue, saying “We know how difficult these circumstances are for Coach Lue and we support him totally in this focused approach to addressing his health issues.”

Coming off the back of a heated courtside discussion with LeBron James during a loss to Portland last week, the Cavs have endured injury, locker room feuds, rumours of James’ departure and significant roster changes so far this NBA season.

The most concerning comment from the Cleveland Cavaliers’ official statement refers to the health difficulties Lue has been battling while trying to stabilise the Cavs. “I have had chest pains and other troubling symptoms, compounded by a loss of sleep, throughout the year. Despite a battery of tests, there have been no conclusions as to what the exact issue is.”

We wish Coach Lue all the best in his recovery and hope he can return in time to help the Cavs figure deeply into the Eastern Playoff series.
