The circulation of rumours surrounding Quentin Tarantino's new movie, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, is rapidly increasing, and it turns out many of them are true.
Quentin Tarantino spoke at CinemaCon, the largest and most important gathering for the Worldwide Motion Picture Industry. The event this year ran from April 23-26 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Here's what we know about Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
The film will star Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio. Tarantino said of the duo, it will be "the most dynamic star duo since Paul Newman and Robert Redford"
Regarding the film, Mr. Tarantino said that it will "take place at the height of a counterculture revolution when the studio system was collapsing and a rising generation of young turks was taking its place at the height of new Hollywood."
He added that it will be more similar in style and plot to Pulp Fiction than anything else he has made.
According to Variety, Mr. Tarantino won over the audience as he spoke on behalf of film exhibitors. He owns a refurbished theatre in Los Angeles on Beverly Avenue called the New Beverly Cinema.
The film will take place in 1969 while the Tate/La Bianca murders were taking place. This will be woven into the tapestry of a changing movie industry.
DiCaprio says the script is one of the most amazing scripts Tarantino has produced, and we desperately want to believe him. DiCaprio and Pitt will play a waning movie star and a stunt double. It's rumored that Margot Robbie (I, Tonya) has been approached to play the role of Sharon Tate but nothing has been confirmed. The talk around town is that the film will treat Manson much the same way Inglourious Basterds treated Hitler and Nazi Germany.
